Qualifications: You must have competed at a minimum of three (3) NBHA Sanctioned shows for points in the district that you compete, from state final to state final.  There is no minimum points requirement to qualify for the State Championship Show.   NO NBHA member may compete at more that one (1) NBHA State Championship Show per year.  You must be a current NHBA member in good standing with NBHA.

 

Entries: All Minnesota NBHA members will be mailed State Championship information, entry form, and schedule of events, and rules.  Entries must be post marked by August 2nd, 2008 in order to be included in the program draw.  Entry fees must be paid before you will be allowed to compete at the NHBA State Championship show.  Substitutions of horses may be made before the first horse runs in each class.  Entry fees are determined by the State Championship Show Committee and are listed on the entry form. All riders MUST have a sponsor ($25 Individual or $35 Family). 

NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED. NO RIDER SUBSTITUTIONS WILL BE ALLOWED.

 

Check in: Stalls will be assigned and marked. Stall assignments will be posted on the website by 8/17/08.  You MUST have a current coggins, and your current NBHA card to check in.  If you want to stall by someone you MUST send your entries in together.  If you pay for an electrical hook up you will be given a permit to display in the window of you trailer.  If the permit is not in the window, the electrical will be shut off to your trailer.  Check in will be in the lobby. 

 

Running Order: Running order will be drawn after all pre-entries are received. Run order will be posted on the web site by 8/17/08, and will be printed in the program book. 2nd Go round running order will be reversed from 1st Go round.  Late entries will be a random draw, and will be posted at the #100 drag in the 1st Go round.  Late entries will run at the end of the pre-draw both goes and will be in reversed order form the 1st Go round.

 

Reruns: Reruns will be granted if both timers fail to work properly, or if the barrels are not placed properly on the marks. No prior penalties will apply to a rerun.

       

Barrels will be drug every 5 runs and big drags will be every 50 runs.

Drags will take place on this schedule regardless of scratches.

There will be 2 timers running at all times. 

The only horses that are allowed in the warm up pen are the next 30 horses to run.

 Cool horses out outside.

 No one will be allowed to let their horses roll in the warm up pen during the barrel race.

 

State Championship Show Format:

Open 4D 1st, 2nd, and Short Go

Youth 4D 1st and Short Go

Senior 3D Short Go

Note: Contestants may elect NOT to run in the 2nd Go round.  Requiring contestants to make their second run serves no purpose.  It encourages sloppy runs, pulling up, loping patterns and intentionally knocking barrels over.  Contestants will receive 3 gate calls, if they fail to show they will be considered a scratch. You must check in with the gate person.

 

Dress Codes: NBHA Dress code as stipulated in the NBHA rulebook will be strictly enforced.  To enhance the image of our sport, the NBHA encourages and promotes appropriate western attire.  This includes a long sleeve shirt, cowboy hat, and cowboy boots (no heel down shoes allowed).  Shirtsleeves must be rolled down and buttoned or snapped.  Shirttails must be tucked in.  There will be a $25 hat fine for loosing you hat, which must be paid before you will get your hat back.

 

Full western attire for awards also enforced.

 

All directors will be available from 8:00am till 1 hour after the last run on Fri., Sat. & Sun, unless they are on their horses.

 

The decisions of the show committee are final.  Show committee will consist of all the district directors and the state director only. 

 

 

Go-rounds:

1. Each Go round will pay out money.

2. Contestants may be paid Go round money on more than one horse in each division.

 

Short Go:  short go is a clean slate format

1. Each Contestant will be given the opportunity to ride in two go-rounds, the top 15 horse and rider teams will advance to the final go.  In the second go-round we will bump past those already qualified. If you place 2 horses in one division you may take both horses back to the short go.

 

Unfilled slots will NOT be pulled from the 1st Go-round, as riding once is your choice.

 

2. During the short Go-round, qualifiers may move up or down divisions. Your placement going into the short go has no bearing on your winning position.

 

3. Short-Go draw will be slowest to fasted qualifying time. 

 

4. Knocked barrels will result in a no time.

 

5. Seniors will run a 1 go-round 3D format.

 

6. Youth will run a 2 go-round 4D format.

 

7. A horse may run only once per event unless it is the only horse in the family.

 

8. Contestants may not change horses during the Finals.

 

9. Failing to check in with the gate officials makes you subject to disqualification.

 

10. You must enter the arena with in 3 minute of your name being called or you will be disqualified.

 

11. There will not be reruns given if a horse falls.

 

12. Any contestant whom competes out of turn will be disqualified.

 

13. Each Contestant must have a $25 Personal or $35 Family sponsor to be eligible for prize money/awards during the 2008 NBHA State Championship Show.

 

14. 4D pay out: 1D 35%, 2D 30%, 3D 20%, & 4D 15% for Open and Youth.  3D pay out: 1D 50%, 2D 30%, & 3D 20% for Senior in prize money.  Money not paid out in a division because of empty slots will be divided between all money winners in that division. 

 

15. The added money will be prorated between the Open, Youth, and Senior, by the number of entries in each.

 

16. We will follow all rules in the NBHA Rulebook.  The show Committee will answer any questions that may arise during this State Finals that is not covered by these rules, and their decision will be final.
