DECEMBER 2007 NEWSLETTER

Greetings my friends! Mike here, writing to you this month from the basement of our palatial estate at Battle Brook. My son and nephew came up last weekend and we got the whole thing sheet rocked. Three cases of beer and a couple of mixed drinks later we got us a pretty comfortable family room and extra bedroom. Now all I have to do is wait for my good friend and world renowned sheet rocking expert Dave Gow to get some extra time to put on the finishing touches and we’ll be ready to go. Go for what?  I don’t know, but we’ll be ready.

The banquet is planned for February 2, 2008 and we’ll be putting on our little dog and pony show at Tobie’s bar and lounge/doughnut shop in Hinckley again. They have good food, better drinks and it’s just a short crawl across the parking lot to the hotel where you can sleep or hang out in the hot tub after the festivities are over.  We’ve got a block of rooms reserved at the Grand Northern Inn.  If you plan to spend the night there you need to make your reservation by January 12th.  Call 1-800-468-3517, press 2 for Hinckley hotels, and then press 1 for central reservations.  Identify yourself as a member of NBHA to receive your discount. And, of course, there’s the Casino where you can go and squander your hard earned money and smoke cigarettes legally indoors if you want. There is shuttle service from the hotel about every fifteen minutes.  Also, don’t forget to bring items for the silent auction.  The money raised from the silent auction is a big help in getting things started the following season.

Well, that’s about all I have except to say that I really enjoyed announcing for you again this year. The crows nest gives me an excellent vantage point from which to view you all week after week. We all know that not everyone can win all the time but by God there’s no quit in any of you.  If you put that kind of grit into your every day life you can’t help but succeed.  I’m looking forward to seeing you all again at the banquet. Take care and as always...
