APRIL 2009 NEWSLETTER

Greetings to you all from Battle Brook. Hope you faired well through that incredibly l-o-n-g winter that we just endured. I don’t know about you but when the sun comes out and the temperature reaches anywhere around 40 I feel like running around the woods naked (which, of course, I don’t do because most old guys don’t look too good naked, especially running.) Do your best to erase that mental image if you would.

First off let me say thank you to our out going director, Tami Danger. I know how much time and effort you put into making MN06 the best in the state. Your dedication will not be forgotten. It has been an absolute pleasure for me to have worked so closely with you for the last few years. Also, welcome to our new director, Toni Leader. All of us will do everything we can to make the transition as smooth as possible

Having said that, I don’t have a lot of info to share with you at this time except the dates of our shows which are as follows - 5/31 at Herzog’s in Brook Park, 6/6 Mission Creek in Beroun, 6/20 & 21 Chisholm, 6/27 & 28 Mission Creek, 8/1 Brook Park, and 8/8 Houck’s in North Branch. The state finals will be 8/21-22-23 in Fergus Falls (bring your golf clubs.)

Speaking of golf, Ted would like to set up a little outing following the Wishes and More run. If any of you would be interested please contact Toni so Ted can get some tee times arranged. Also, Toni would like some feed back from you if you would be interested in having some runs in September and October since we don’t have the Hinkley arena available to us any longer. Please call or e-mail her with your input.

Last but not least Carolyn’s good horse Payday gave birth 3/23 to a beautiful Bay filly by Firewater On Ice. Lori Witz is the proud owner of “Paystub” scheduled to debut in 2011 or 2012. On a personal note I would like to thank all of you who were responsible for giving me the beautiful buckle and belt at our banquet. I always wanted to win a buckle on a horse but since I wasn’t able to, this is the next best thing. Also, the belt that Kathy gave me having belonged to my dear friend David makes it especially, well, special! I will treasure these things for the rest of my life. Thank you, once again, for letting me be a part of what you do.

That’s all for now. Can’t wait to see you all again. Farewell and as always...

9/11/01 God Bless America,

Mike

Toni's Note: I will have the rest of our show bills in the next newsletter and I will try and get it out to you guys in early May. All of our show bills are on line at www.MNNBHA.com. Thanks for being so patient with me while I figure all this stuff out. Plus there will shortly be a directors meeting (they haven't given me a date yet) so if you have any concerns or great ideas let me know so I can bring them forward.

Toni
