JULY Update

Hello Everyone,

Once again I have to say thank you to everyone for making this a really great year. District 6 really has done a great job. Some of our highlights so far has been our fabulous barrel race up in Chisholm that had more added money than any other NBHA show this year and our Make a Wish barrel race at Mission Creek where we got to help raise money for a great cause. Thanks to Rod Flannigan and Roy and Lori Witz for helping to put together such great shows.

We have some celebrities in our midst too. Congrats to Corrine Smith for winning the saddle at the 4 Star Challenge. Also to Janey Larson for winning the saddle at the Wishes and More barrel race. Jill Houck is currently leading the MBRA rodeo division with Amber Hultman not far behind her. Amy Dukatz, Tami Danger, and Trisha Jensen are in the top 10 for the Open division with the MBRA. Several of our 06 members pulled in checks at the Barrel Bash in Fergus Falls!

Our next show is in Brook Park on August 1st and then one last one before state finals at Houck Horse Company in North Branch on August 8th. If you don't have your three shows in for state finals be sure to attend to get in what you need. If anyone has any questions feel free to call me or email me. 651-335-4418 or taleader@msn.com.

For those of you attending state finals be sure and get your stuff in the mail by August 1st to avoid the late fee. This year we are responsible for setting the 2nd barrel. I know many districts are making scheduled times etc but I'd rather avoid that if possible since our members are so good about helping out.

Corrine Smith has arranged for us to have a fund raiser show up at the new Verndale arena in October. R & J arena has agreed to donate the arena, tractor and rest of the venue. The only request that they have is that all horses must have a stall. But they are only charging $35.00 for stalling for the weekend! (Thanks Corrine for taking the lead on this!) We are also trying to arrange with Cannon Falls to have an all district NBHA show this November. It would be a fund raiser with 100% of the proceeds going towards the added money for the state finals in 2010. Again they have agreed to donate the venue and we just have to pay for stalling. I will be working on getting both events set up this month and will update you as I have more information (hopefully soon). Lori Witz has said we could also have a barrel race at Mission Creek this fall. Let me know what you guys think and if you have any other ideas.

Happy Trails,
Toni Leader
