2007 was a great year, and you’ll find your standings attached.  We have quite a few people to thank for our last few shows of the season.  Aneesa put on a great show in the middle of August.  We would like to thank the following for their sponsorship of that jackpot: Blackduck Co-op, Blackduck Family Foods, Blackduck Sawmill, and Vernon and Betty Bloom.  Sarah Cole in Warroad also had a jackpot in August and we would like to thank her for the use of her arena.  We would like to thank the Crookston Rodeo Team for another fun jackpot in Crookston.  It is always nice to have the added money and congratulations to Ashley Gross for winning the 1D money run and the jacket.  After the jackpot at our house got rained out twice we came to the conclusion that our arena was never going to dry out.  So we called in and asked a favor.  Please make sure to thank Tana Sorenson for letting us use her sandy arena for that last hard-to-schedule show.  The arena was in perfect condition and it was a lot of fun.

State Finals was once again a great time for everyone who attended.  You can find all of the entries and results at the NBHA Minnesota home page.  District 5 made out pretty well and brought home 4 trophy saddles!!!!  Congratulations to Kelsi Schultz, Open 2D Champion; her sister Kristi Schultz, Open 3D Champion; Alie Dorn, Youth 2D Champion; and Jenna Rose King, Youth 3D Champion.

I have been thinking of having the year end awards banquet in a different place this year.  I checked the distances from towns that our members live in, and I am also taking into consideration how many members live in that town.  At this point I am choosing between 3 destinations, Westwind in Waskish, Hillcrest in Blackduck, or somewhere in Bemidji.  Please call me or email me with your preference.  I will go with the majority vote.   I HAVE NOT TALKED TO ANY OF THESE ESTABLISHMENTS YET, so I don’t even know if they will have space available for us.  I know that Westwind is very busy until the end of ice-fishing.  We would probably not be able to have our banquet there until April.  I also need to know if you prefer a Saturday or Sunday, afternoon or evening.  I believe that in the past it was on Sunday, in the afternoon.  Sunday would probably be easier to book, so let me know what works best for you, and I will go with the majority.

There is a new way to qualify for the 2008 Youth World Championships.  Riders can qualify in the Youth (12 and under) and the Teen (13 and over) categories.  This means that twice as many Youth from each district can qualify for World.  A child’s qualifying age is determined by their age on January 1, 2008.  Anyone born on or after January 1, 1995 is a Youth rider.  Anyone born before January 1, 1995 is a Teen rider.

We had very few sponsors this year.  We NEED to get more sponsors or having the sponsorship program is pointless.  Please go out and get one or two sponsors.  It would make a huge difference.  The more sponsors we get the more money we have for end of the year awards.  Multiple sponsorships can quickly add up to a saddle just ask Sarah Cole.  Please send all your receipts to Marlene Holte and the money to Marilyn Delaney.  Remember your receipts must be from you or a family member.  If you have any questions please call Marlene at 218-459-3367 or Marilyn at 218-835-7173.  Forms are attached.
